PEACE OVER VIOLENCE
Los Angeles, CA
8,000 sf
Architect: ENV
Peace Over Violence, established in 1971, serves to provide emergency, intervention, prevention, education and advocacy programs and services to those experiencing sexual and domestic violence, intimate partner stalking, child abuse and youth violence.
The organization relocated their offices to the 8,000 sf space amidst the Covid19 pandemic and Los Angeles lockdown. Strict health and safety operations were enforced throughout to ensure 100% compliance with local and state health regulations. Despite the added protocols and initial delays from the city, the 20 week construction schedule was met and the project complete in October 2020.
The minimal, clean design with playful pops of color create a calming atmosphere for the organization’s clientele. A children’s play area adjacent to reception allows parents to provide a safe place for children, while sound-proofed client meeting rooms offers confidentiality. ALUR glass systems throughout provide an abundance of natural light within the space.
The new offices provide a 40% increase in overall space and twice as many meeting rooms for counseling services. As a result, “we will be able to increase our programming and expand our capacity for both crisis intervention and violence prevention services,” stated Peace Over Violence in a recent press release announcing the relocation.
