PEPPERDINE FIRESTONE FIELDHOUSE TOPPING OUT
Pepperdine University celebrates topping out the new Firestone Fieldhouse in Malibu, CA
The recent topping out of the Firestone Fieldhouse marks a significant milestone in the ongoing enhancement of Pepperdine University’s campus facilities. Designed by DLR Group as a premier training ground for the Pepperdine Waves golf team, the new Firestone Fieldhouse will unite the men’s and women’s golf programs under one state-of-the-art roof—fostering a spirit of teamwork, technical development, and athletic excellence.
Upon completion, the Firestone Fieldhouse will provide an advanced environment that reflects Pepperdine’s commitment to student-athlete success and high-quality construction standards. The facility is set to feature a contemporary second-floor clubhouse as a hub for coaching, team strategy, and community-building. Dedicated men’s and women’s locker rooms will deliver enhanced functionality and comfort, accommodating both privacy and team unity.
At the core of the new complex is a suite of leading-edge golf simulator technologies, elevating skill refinement and competition preparation. These systems will enable athletes to analyze their game in real time, adopt advanced training protocols, and strive for peak performance—benefitting from industry-leading environmental controls and safe construction methodologies that prioritize athlete well-being.
Men’s Golf Head Coach Michael Beard expressed the impact of the new facility on Pepperdine’s programs in the September 11, 2024 issue of The Pepperdine University Graphic : “To be able to have a place on campus where the men’s and women’s team can just have a home and train and improve with all the latest technology and all that, and then still have a place to practice on campus outside was just an awesome combo.”
Environmental Contracting Corporation is honored to contribute its expertise in sustainable, high-quality construction to this pivotal project. With a focus on safety protocols, schedule-driven execution, and long-term functionality, the ECC project team ensures that every detail addresses both immediate athletic needs and the university’s enduring vision.
Pepperdine University and its partners celebrate this key construction achievement and look forward to the Firestone Fieldhouse’s positive impact on the Waves golf team, fostering growth, unity, and excellence for years to come.
