Environmental Contracting Corporation is a most respected contractor of tenant improvement interiors and renovations in Southern California. The level of service we provide is second to none. We have built quality interiors for leading companies and earned a reputation for delivering a product of the highest quality within our clients’ budgets, on schedule and with meticulous attention to detail.
ECC was established 30 years ago with the mission of making a difference through leadership and innovative ideas to advance the industry and to provide the best service possible for our clients. We continue to achieve these impressive goals in a constantly changing industry which challenges us to create new solutions for our clients to succeed. Our original approach to construction, together with our concept to promote an environment of collaboration and respect, has proven to successfully strengthen our relationships with our team partners.
The ECC name represents the idea of constructing human centered environments for people to live, learn, create, work and play. In the early 90s we were in the forefront of building one of the first sustainable tenant improvement environments in Southern California. We continue to foster our belief in being a steward in sustainability and continue to recycle, reuse and repurpose.
Aram Arakelian, FOUNDER
As the founder of Environmental Contracting, Aram Arakelian was responsible for the innovation and leadership that has made Environmental Contracting Corporation one of the leading general contractors in Southern California. He started his career in New York as a facilities engineer for the New York Telephone Company, then moving into a career in contracting which now spans over forty-four years. In 1973, he relocated his family to Los Angeles and joined the Interiors Division of Turner Construction Company. Joining Kajima International in 1977, he accepted an executive position and successfully helped the firm grow to one of the top 400 Contractors in the United States. His last accomplishment, before starting Environmental, was negotiating the joint venture and assembling the project construction team for the Greater Los Angeles World Trade Center, Long Beach.
Aram’s plan to launch his own contracting firm was realized in 1984 with the establishment of Environmental Contracting. Another dream was realized in 2002, when Environmental designed and built its own building in the Arts District of Downtown Los Angeles. Aram has been a driving force in raising the levels of interior construction in Los Angeles and Orange County. The firm general conditions fee bid, close-out package book, and the pre-construction budgeting process he created to assist designers, brokers and clients have become an industry standard.
In 2011, Aram asked Jack Jibilian to take over as President of Environmental so that he can devote more time to write, lecture, and personally attend to our client’s pre-construction and value engineering needs.
Jack Jibilian, PRESIDENT
While Jack was studying architecture at the University of Southern California, he interned at various architects offices and ECC. It was during his internship at ECC, he realized that his passion was building and joined us in 1996 after graduating with a degree in Architecture.
As President, Jack is committed to building on the strong foundation established by Aram and continuing the legacy of ECC. Jack is an extremely capable and talented project manager who still manages select projects for our clients. He works closely with our teams to ensure our projects meet our clients exacting criteria and takes personal interest in guiding and encouraging our younger team members to achieve their potential. However, Jack’s main focus is on our core construction business. He plays an integral role in all company operations, develops and maintains client relations and is responsible for strategic planning and company vision. Jack is committed to provide the high level of service to all of our clients and continue to elevate our industry in being a critical part of the development of Southern California.
Ara Bedros, VICE PRESIDENT
Ara has been with ECC since its inception in 1984 and learned about construction working his way up through the field as a laborer and superintendent before acting as a project manager which has given him a broad understanding of commercial construction projects. Now, as Vice President of Operations Ara manages all the administrative aspects of our projects and supports the activities of our field operations.
With a BS in Environmental Health and Occupational Safety from CSUN, as well as certification from OSHA, Ara oversees all health and safety issues for ECC. He has a passion for the environment and took the lead in the company by becoming the first LEED Accredited Professional in the firm. He has implemented many sustainable practices at ECC’s facility and at our job sites.
